
The teams that constitute the Paediatric Respiratory Team work throughout the hospital and community to deliver care for children in the East Midlands.
Children and young people are cared for by multidisciplinary teams with expertise in the management of chest and breathing problems.
Asthma and wheezing conditions
The team includes doctors, nurses and physiotherapists with expertise in diagnosing and managing asthma in children of all ages.
Cystic fibrosis
The Cystic Fibrosis team consists of a wide group of professionals including doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists, social workers and play therapists. They work with children and their families both in and outside of hospital.
Long Term Ventilation
The LTV team investigate and manage children and young people who have breathing problems at day or night and may require breathing support (home ventilation).
Multi-professional teams
The respiratory team also provides support to other teams within the Children’s Hospital for children with other medical problems. Some children have complex medical needs, including critical care. Joint clinics are held for children with surgical, rheumatological, spinal-anaesthetic, cleft lip & palate and airway problems.
